POW/MIA Monument

Here’s a simple granite monument

like a bracelet made of stone.

In memory of those still missing,

for they are yet alone.

And to those gallant men and women,

caught and captured by a foe,

who earned the title HERO

don't say it isn't so.

The hardship and the torture,

that they painfully endured,

will be with them forever.

That much is understood.

We don't remember all their names,

yet we carry deep inside,

a vision of their horror,

and their strong American pride.

We search our souls and hearts,

for ways that we may repay,

the debt we owe these people,

each and every single day.

This monument is but a token,

for all that they went through.

A simple granite structure,

and a vow we must renew .

Never let them be forgotten,

 never let our efforts cease,

until we bring them home again,

to their families and to peace.
